Successful year for Roe Valley Enterprises Ltd - 06/10/2009
Roe Valley Enterprises Ltd, the local enterprise agency for Limavady Borough Council area has had a most successful year with continued involvement in programmes designed to stimulate the business economy in the area. At the Annual General Meeting of Roe Valley Enterprises Ltd, which recently took place in the company’s offices in Aghanloo Industrial Estate, board members were given positive reports by both the company’s Chairman, Brian McMurray, and the Chief Executive, Martin Devlin. The company’s success has been achieved over the last year when local entrepreneurs have been faced with the most difficult and challenging economic climate in recent times Set up in 1992, with the primary aim to help new business start up and to encourage existing businesses to develop and grow the company offers an extensive range of support through the provision of industrial and office workspace units to incubate local businesses, unsecured flexible loans for start up and existing businesses, professional business advice and mentoring, training on business start up and expansion planning, ICT advice and training, consultancy support in sourcing government assistance and finance and market planning. During the year a total of 82 new small businesses were started under the Start a Business Programme (SABp), which was a flagship economic support package funded by Invest Northern Ireland and delivered locally by Roe Valley Enterprises Ltd. The new SABp supported local businesses are expected to create 148 jobs and generate approximately £5.3m of income in the Limavady Borough Council area over their first full year of trading. Martin Devlin, Chief Executive of Roe Valley Enterprises stated that the contribution of SABp to the economic growth of the small business sector was enormous. These start-ups are bringing business confidence, employment and economic growth to rural and urban areas alike particularly when unemployment is rising in a period of recession. In addition to the above the company also delivered a number of business development programmes throughout the year which all had a positive impact on the local business sector, and through the provision of its workspace the company currently houses almost thirty businesses who employ over 100 people.
